Installation is a brand-new cooling system where there was none: a home addition, a Florida room, a converted garage, a workshop, or new construction. The work starts before any equipment is ordered, with a load calculation that sizes the system to the actual space.
We also design or extend the ductwork to match, because a new system on undersized ducts never cools evenly. You get the plan and the price in writing before work begins.
Sized by Load Calculation
Square footage alone does not size an air conditioner. Insulation, window area and direction, ceiling height, and how the space is used all change the cooling load. An oversized system short-cycles — it blasts cold air, shuts off, and never wrings enough humidity from the air — while an undersized one runs constantly and never catches up.
We run a proper load calculation for the space and spec the equipment to it. That is the difference between a system that cools and a system that comforts.
Ductwork Designed to Match
New equipment needs new airflow. We design the duct runs, size the returns, and plan the registers so every room gets its share of the cooling. In attic installations, we account for the summer heat the ducts sit in and insulate accordingly.
If the project involves an older section of the home, we evaluate the existing ducts too — a new system tied into leaking old ductwork still leaves you with hot rooms.
The Electrical Side, Handled In-House
Every new system is also an electrical project: a dedicated circuit, a disconnect at the equipment, and panel capacity to carry the load. Because air conditioning and electrical are our two equal divisions, one crew handles all of it — no calling a second contractor for the breaker panel.
Where the job requires it, we pull the permit and handle the inspection. Dedicated circuits and panel evaluations are part of how we scope every installation.
Common questions
What is the difference between installation and replacement?
Installation is a brand-new system where there was none, like an addition or a Florida room. Replacement swaps out an existing system. This page covers new installations.
How do you size a new AC system?
With a load calculation that accounts for insulation, windows, ceiling height, and how the space is used — not just square footage. Right-sizing prevents short-cycling and humidity problems.
Do I need a permit for a new AC system?
In most cases, yes. We pull the required permits and handle the inspections as part of the job.
Can you add AC to a room with no ductwork?
Often, yes. Options include extending the existing duct system or installing a ductless mini-split, which avoids ductwork entirely. We evaluate both during the estimate.
