Ceiling Fan Installation in Stuart, FL

Hung right, wired right, balanced right.

In Florida, a ceiling fan is not decoration — it is how you feel comfortable at 78 instead of 74. But a fan is also a heavy, spinning load hanging over your head, and it has to mount to a box rated for the weight and the motion.

We install and replace ceiling fans across Stuart and Martin County: proper fan-rated support boxes, correct wiring for fan/light combos, and balancing so they run quiet. Indoor, patio, and damp-rated fans for covered outdoor spaces.

The Box Is the Job

A standard light box is not rated to hold a spinning fan — and we still find fans hung from them regularly. The fix is a fan-rated support box, braced to the framing, installed before the fan goes up. It is the unglamorous part of the job and the most important one.

When we replace an existing light with a fan, we open the ceiling, install the rated box, and patch cleanly. No shortcuts, because the shortcut is what drops a fan.

Wiring for Fan and Light

Fan/light combos need the right wiring: separate control of fan and light, which means the correct conductors in the wall and the right switch — or a remote receiver wired properly at the canopy. We wire it so the wall switch, the pull chains, and any remote all agree with each other instead of fighting.

Smart fan controls get the same treatment: correct wiring first, then the smart features on top.

Patio and Damp-Rated Fans

Covered patios and lanais are fan country in Stuart — but the fan has to be rated for the location. Damp-rated fans for covered outdoor spaces, with sealed motors that stand up to humidity and salt air. A dry-rated indoor fan on a patio near the river corrodes fast.

We also check the mounting: patio ceilings and pergolas need the same fan-rated support as interior ceilings, and outdoor wiring needs weather-rated treatment.

Common questions

Can you replace my light fixture with a ceiling fan?

Yes — and we install a fan-rated support box as part of the job, since the existing light box almost certainly isn't rated for a fan. That's the part that matters most.

My fan wobbles. Can it be fixed?

Often, yes — balancing kits and blade alignment fix most wobbles. But a wobble can also mean a loose or underrated box, which we check first because that's the safety issue.

Do ceiling fans really lower cooling costs?

They let you feel comfortable at a higher thermostat setting — moving air feels cooler. A fan doesn't cool the room, but it lets the AC work less hard for the same comfort.

Can I put a regular fan on my covered patio?

It needs to be damp-rated for a covered outdoor space. Indoor-rated fans corrode quickly in Florida humidity and salt air.
